The Volunteer Coordinator has overall responsibility for the Agency’s Volunteer Program. Volunteers must be used in day-to-day administrative and/or direct patient care roles that meets the needs of the patient, family, or care givers. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training, supervising, and retaining volunteers.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
– High School Graduate
– Graduate of an accredited college/university is preferred
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
– A background in volunteer recruitment, team management, and retention is preferred
SKILLS:
– Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Nursing Team, Interdisciplinary Group, and the Community
– Excellent verbal and written skills are essential
REQUIREMENT:
– Reliable transportation
– Valid and current auto liability insurance
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
– Works in an office environment
– Noise level may be moderately high at times
– Works under a variety of conditions in facilities and offices
– Ability to travel locally
– Ability to work a flexible schedule
– Some exposure to unpleasant weather
JOB SPECIFIC EFFORTS REQUIRED:
– Periodic times of prolonged standing, sitting, and walking
– working under conditions necessary to meet patient’s needs and program time-frames

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include but are not limited to:
– Responsibility to maintain documentation that demonstrates a viable and ongoing effort to recruit and retain volunteers
– Assessing and maintain documentation of volunteers’ skills and competencies
– Providing guidance related specifically to individual’s responsibilities
– Maintaining documentation of the cost savings achieved using volunteers including identification of each role occupied by a volunteer; their time spent serving as a volunteer; and the estimated cost the Agency would have incurred had a volunteer not been used
– Ensuring volunteers provide day-to-day administrative or direct patient care services in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth by CMS (Medicare)
– Ensuring volunteers document their work activities done for patients and families
– Participating in the care planning process for all patients receiving volunteer services
– Development and maintenance of policies specific to the Volunteer Program
– Ensuring volunteers are aware and in agreement with their duties and responsibilities
– Supporting the marketing of the Agency and its programs when the opportunity arises
